Stock rarely disappears in one go. It leaks: a carton opened to sell by the piece and never recorded, a transfer from the Douala warehouse that reaches Yaoundé one carton short, goods given on credit to a regular customer without a delivery note, products that expire at the back of the shelf. Paper stock cards and a spreadsheet updated on Friday cannot catch these, and a till alone does not see the warehouse.
