Opes SchoolBus

Route tracking, boarding checks and parent alerts for school transport

Request a demonstration

A parent in Bonapriso waiting at 6:40 for a bus that is stuck in traffic at Ndokoti has no way of knowing that. So they call the school, the secretary calls the driver, and by the time anyone knows anything the bus has arrived. Multiply that by three hundred families.

Opes SchoolBus removes the guessing. Parents see where the bus is and get a message when their child boards and when they get off. The school gets a record of who was on which bus, which matters most on the day something goes wrong.

What Opes SchoolBus does

Live route tracking

Parents follow the bus on its route with an estimated arrival at their stop, so children wait indoors rather than at the roadside.

Boarding and alighting checks

Each child is scanned or ticked on and off. A child who did not board is flagged before the bus leaves the stop.

Parent alerts

SMS or app notification on boarding, on alighting and on delay. Parents stop calling the school office to ask where the bus is.

Authorised collection

Only guardians registered for that child may collect them at the stop, recorded by the monitor on the bus.

Driver behaviour

Speed, harsh braking and route deviation recorded where trackers are fitted, giving the school something concrete to act on.

Incident and SOS

The monitor raises an incident or SOS from the bus, alerting the school and the affected parents at once.

Who it is for

Private and international schools, school groups running their own transport, contracted school transport operators and nursery and primary schools in Douala and Yaoundé.

How it works

1

Routes configured

Stops, timings, assigned bus, driver and monitor set per route. Children are allocated to a route and a stop.

2

Morning run

The bus departs, tracking begins, and each child is checked on at their stop with an SMS to the parent.

3

Arrival at school

Arrival is logged and the register is reconciled. Any child expected but not aboard is reported to the school office.

4

Afternoon run

Children are checked on at school and off at their stop, released only to a registered guardian.

5

Review

The school reviews punctuality, route timing, incidents and driver behaviour, and adjusts routes on evidence.

Common questions

Do parents need a smartphone?

No. Boarding and alighting alerts go out by SMS to any handset. The live map is a bonus for parents who have a smartphone, not a requirement.

What hardware does the bus need?

A GPS tracker for live position and a phone or tablet for the monitor to check children on and off. Both are inexpensive and locally available.

Can it handle children who change stop or route?

Yes. A temporary change is recorded for the day with parental authorisation, and the monitor sees it on their list, so a one-off arrangement does not become a safety gap.

What happens if a child is not collected at their stop?

The monitor records it, the child stays on the bus, and the school and the parent are alerted immediately with the bus location and the next action.
